Holoprosencephaly (HPE, once known as arhinencephaly) is a cephalic disorder in which the prosencephalon (the forebrain of the embryo) fails to develop into two hemispheres. Normally, the forebrain is formed and the face begins to develop in the fifth and sixth weeks of human pregnancy. Hox genes, which guide placement of embryonic structures, fail to activate along the midline of the head, allowing structures that are normally paired on the left and right to merge. The condition also occurs in other species, as with Cy, the Cyclops kitten.
The condition can be mild or severe. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), "in most cases of holoprosencephaly, the malformations are so severe that babies die before birth.

Too much pressure on the veins in the pelvic and rectal area causes hemorrhoids.
Normally, tissue inside the anus fills with blood to help control bowel movements. If you strain to move stool, the increased pressure causes the veins in this tissue to swell and stretch. This can cause hemorrhoids.

Breast Cancer Facts and Statistics Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. There are close to 200,000 new cases of breast cancer a year, and this results in about 47,000 deaths per year, although the mortality has fallen slightly in the 1990s.
The etiology of breast cancer remains unknown but at least two breast cancer genes have been cloned–the BRCA-1 and the BRCA-2 genes. Only about 10% of all breast cancers can be explained by hereditary mutations in these genes. Most of the sporadic cases, the other 90% of the cases of breast cancer, do not seem to have mutations in these genes so there does not seem to be a common pathway gene for both sporadic and hereditary cases.

Heart Attack Treatment Plans The treatment of a heart attack varies somewhat from case to case. The first rule, however, is to get the person to a hospital as soon as possible. Almost one-third of people who have a heart attack die before reaching the hospital. Of those who do get to a hospital, the vast majority will recover.
Complete cardiac arrest (meaning that the heart stops beating) can occur at any time during a heart attack. Even if cardiac arrest occurs, the patient has a good chance of survival if cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is started within four minutes of the arrest. CPR is a simple technique using mouth-to-mouth ventilation and chest compressions to pump oxygenated blood to the brain even though the victim's heart is not beating. Although CPR is a simple technique to learn, it cannot be learned from a book. CPR courses are taught by local chapters of the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. If everyone were trained in CPR, an estimated 100,000 lives would be saved each year in the United States alone.
Uterus Didelphys Pregnancy and Symptoms Uterus didelphys (sometimes also uterus didelphis) represents a uterine malformation where the uterus is present as a paired organ as the embryogenetic fusion of the mullerian ducts failed to occur. As a result there is a double uterus with two separate cervices, and often a double vagina as well. Each uterus has a single horn linked to the ipsilateral fallopian tube that faces its ovary.
In a female fetus, the uterus starts out as two small tubes. As the fetus develops, the tubes normally join to create one larger, hollow organ — the uterus. Sometimes, however, the tubes don't join completely. Instead, each one develops into a separate structure. This condition is called double uterus (uterus didelphys).
